A dense and fine drizzle
casts a shade in the vale
and mute droplets glimmer in the oaks.
Finches hopping around
in the branches
keep bullying the remaining leaves.
Their breasts are only more rusty
and the barred wings
send streaks of white across the twigs.
Now a huge and dark sail falls from the clouds
Thunder growls and rides the waves
flooding the lanes with broken boughs.
